The wicketkeeper-batter posted a video to Instagram with the comment, "Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout." Consider me retired as of 1929 hours."



In limited-overs cricket, Dhoni has been an excellent all-rounder with savvy work behind the stumps and great finishing qualities.

Dhoni appeared in 350 One-Day Internationals, scoring 183 against Sri Lanka. He is also the first skipper to have won all three major ICC trophies (the 50-over World Cup, the T20 World Cup, and the Champions Trophy).

Dhoni is regarded as 'Captain Cool' because of his cool demeanor and superb captaincy on the field.

India made numerous breakthroughs thanks to his athleticism behind the stumps. His knack and cricketing intellect has made him famous for review calls and many have humorously stated to alter the 'Decision-Review System's' name to 'Dhoni-Review System'.

He announced his retirement from Tests in December 2014, giving young players like Wriddhiman Saha a chance. Dhoni retired from Test cricket after 90 Tests and 4,876 runs at an average of 38.09.


India also achieved the number one rating in Test cricket under Dhoni's leadership.
